Progres Foundation is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented economist to join our team of researchers and experts. This is a great opportunity for a junior professional or recent graduate looking to build hands-on experience in economic research and policy analysis focused on Turkmenistan and Central Asia.
Progres Foundation is a Turkmen think tank that promotes nuanced understanding, research and thoughtful discussions on human development in Turkmenistan.
Progres Foundation works to support various progressive, educational initiatives that benefit the public in Turkmenistan. Saglyk.org has been working to improve public health literacy in Turkmenistan over the last 17 years, including becoming a leading source of COVID-19 information in the Turkmen language.Progres.online is an online analytical journal that promotes better, nuanced understanding of the societal trends in Turkmenistan by providing quality research and policy analysis.
Your Role
You will support our team in producing evidence-based insights on economic and social policy topics. You will be involved in the full research cycle – from collecting and analyzing data to communicating findings through written reports, public briefs and visual materials benefitting the public and policymakers.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to our flagship project Palaw Index, food inflation tracker;
- Research and write articles and reports on economic policies and socioeconomic trends in Turkmenistan;
- Collect, organize, and manage data from various sources;
- Analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions to support research outputs.
Compensation: Based on experience
Donate to support Turkmen analysts, researchers and writers to produce factual, constructive and progressive content in their efforts to educate the public of Turkmenistan.

Qualifications
- University degree in Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field;
- Demonstrated interest in economic developments in Turkmenistan and Central Asia;
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to present complex topics clearly;
- Comfortable working with data – collection, factchecking, and basic analysis;
- Experience creating charts is a plus;
- Self-motivated, curious, and able to work independently;
- Languages: English and Russian are required. Knowledge of Turkmen is a plus.
