7 Reasons Why Our Work Matters

  1. We stand for building state institutions, not discussing personalities.

Our content identifies structural issues, provides analysis and offers recommendations at reforming the systems to enable the Turkmen state to provide public services and to establish laws and bureaucracies for transparent, accountable, effective and inclusive governance. We use data, science, facts and logic to understand and interpret autocratic governance.

  1. We raise the issues that no one wants to talk about in a resource-based autocracy: human development.

Our writing, analysis, and reflections highlight the critical issues that the government wants us to be silent about. We’re here to make sure that none of Turkmenistan’s people gets left behind.

  1. We amplify voices that aren’t heard.

We provide a forum for the voices of people in Turkmenistan who feel like they can’t speak up, or won’t be listened to.

  1. We build community and solidarity.

With autocratic government and its allies trying to tear us apart as a civil society, we do the work needed to build community and solidarity in a deeply atomized society.

Donate to support Turkmen analysts, researchers and writers to produce factual, constructive and progressive content in their efforts to educate the public of Turkmenistan.

SUPPORT OUR WORK
  1. We stand defiantly against injustice.

In a time of our country’s intellectual, economic, digital and cultural isolation from the rest of the world, we mobilize to challenge autocracy, fear, learned helplessness and hatred in all its forms. We educate, we advocate for strong state institutions, and we engage peacefully and constructively.

  1. We collaborate and partner with Turkmen experts, researchers and students.

Not only do we collaborate, we invest into our partnerships by providing necessary capacity building training, such as in writing and project development.

  1. We bring hope.

Hope, in autocratic regime, is hard to hold onto.  We create a space to think and speak differently as Turkmen. To start imagining a different, just and open Turkmenistan is the most important and powerful thing we can do as a society.
