The International Organization for Migration (IOM) published a report providing an overview of the migration situation in Türkiye. According to the report Türkiye has been hosting a large number of migrants for years including from Central Asia. Turkmens are the third largest irregular migrants with 6,288 Turkmen citizens overstaying their visa or visa-free period in Türkiye. However, given the limitations of the study the real numbers might be much higher. The study used secondary sources making it difficult to verify or guarantee accurateness of the data. Also, there is a possibility of underreporting due to incomplete reporting, differing definitions, and unreported cases.
